sulphur skyline trail| jasper national park

A couple weeks ago we hiked the Sulphur Skyline trail in Jasper National Park. This is a great day hike to do in the area with a fair amount of elevation gain and stunning views of the Rocky Mountains and Fiddle River. The hike itself is about 8 km with 700m of elevation and can be completed in about 3-4 hours. We even packed our boiler so we could enjoy a warm meal and some hot chocolate on the summit. It was kind of the perfect day.

The trailhead is a paved trail located at the Miette Hot springs parking lot and turns into a hiking trail after about 100 meters. Stay on this trail until you get to a fork and then veer right towards the Sulphur Skyline. The trail gets much steeper from this point on so be sure to take lots of water breaks and stay hydrated. Once we climbed the steep and rocky trail to the summit, we could see the Miette Hot Springs in the distance and to see how far (and high!) we climbed gave me such a rewarding feeling and the mountainous views were breathtaking. Check out some photos of our hike in the slideshow below!

Hiker’s Tip: if you’re not hiking with your four-legged pal, take a well deserved and relaxing dip in the Miette Hot Springs after your strenuous mountain climb!

The gear: Otis’ bandana c/o RoKo | Happy Camper top | Otis’ pack from Ruffwear
